A resident of Fort, Advocate Yasmin Tavaria, has filed a petition in? the Bombay High Court seeking directions to stop budget airlines from charging a premium for front row seats in flights.?
Tavaria, a cancer survivor, has in her plea described obstacles faced by? her, and possibly by other disabled persons or those with reduced mobility, when given seats in the back rows of flights. In her petition, she alleges, "Budget airlines have scant regard for the? implementation of rules framed under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act."
The petition prays for the court's directions to declare the? practice as discriminatory, void ab initio and violative of? the basic fundamental rights enshrined in the Constitution of India for? all citizens irrespective of their physical condition.
