State PWD Minister Chandrakant Patil on Monday made it clear that it was not possible, at least for now, to cancel the Mumbai entry point (MEP) toll tax.

During a press conference on Amar Mahal junction flyover status, when asked as to when the government would make Maharashtra toll-free, and end the Mumbai Entry Point tax, Patil said, “Only Eknath Shinde, minister for MSRTC, can answer this question. But accepting collective responsibility as a cabinet member, at this point, the state government is considering whether the state can afford to take up the financial burden of this decision, taking in to account financial position of the state.”
