Worli's Campa Cola Compound residents may get electricity connection soon, albeit temporary. Standing committee members of the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) Undertaking raised the issue of providing temporary electric meters on the premises till a final outcome on the fate of the unauthorised floors is arrived at.

"The Supreme Court judgment states the state government can intervene in the matter of Campa Cola, so that some relief can be provided to the affected residents," said Kedar Hombalkar, a committee member.

As per the discussion held during the standing committee meeting on Wednesday, a move was made asking the BEST administration to provide temporary power connections to the 140-odd affected families.

These temporary connections can be given after taking a bond from the residents, wherein it will be stated that depending upon the outcome of the final order on the fate of the unauthorised floors, the power connections can be disconnected.

The BEST administration, through the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, will initiate the process of providing electricity and water connections on a temporary basis after referring to the legal status of the case. However, it is uncertain by when the same will bring in relief to the affected residents.
