Cabinet sets tur dal price at Rs 55 per kg

It will be available for ration card holders across the state

The State Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to set the price cap for tur dal at Rs 55/kg for ration card holders. The tur dal was bought by the government from NAFED, which will now be made available at all ration shops.

The Cabinet has also decided to consume almost 7 lakh quintals of dal by using it for various departments. The supplementary nutrition diet for social justice department, as well as Tribal department hostels, nutrition diet for schools, jails, and various other Government establishments, are consumers of tur Dal.

Minister for Cooperatives Subhash Deshmukh informed that the government has 25,25,000 quintals of tur and after milling it would provide tur dal to the tune of 17 to 18 lakh quintals. An official informed that after milling the actual yield of the dal is 65 per cent. 

Last year the assured price for tur was Rs 5,050 and this year it stands at Rs. 5,400. The official informed that if it is brought in to open market, traders can take benefit by bringing their dal stock thereby making profits.
