A 26-year-old cab driver on Wednesday mowed down ten persons including two senior citizens at the busy JJ junction. All the injured persons including the cab driver were rushed to JJ hospital for treatment. All the victims are reported safe and in a stable condition. The co-commuters rushed to the aide of the injured.
According to the police, Rizwan Khan, 26, a resident of Mumbai Central, was driving and moving towards Nagpada when he suddenly lost consciousness due to an epileptic seizure. Khan has a history of epileptic seizure.
Two senior citizens, Abbas Merchant, 75 and Shamim Bano, 67, were injured in the accident and were given discharge. Khan suffered internal injuries and is out of danger.
Shirish Gaikwad, Senior Inspector, JJ Marg police station, said, "We have registered a case against the cab driver for rash driving and causing hurt due to the negligence of the Indian Penal Code. We are investigating the case further."
"The cab driver was at fault as he was unwell and still chose to drive the cab leading to the accident," added Gaikwad.
