The Nagpada police on Monday arrested two brothers for allegedly forging a hall ticket for a college exam. The elder brother was the one to appear for the college exam instead of the actual candidate, the younger brother, using the forged hall ticket. The accused are siblings and the younger brother was a second year student pursuing a diploma in mechanical engineering.

The police said, that the elder brother then pasted his photo on his brother's hall ticket and took a colour xerox of the hall ticket.

With the forged hall ticket, the accused entered the exam hall and signed an attendance sheet. While he was getting ready to appear for the exam, and was waiting for the question paper, the exam supervisor saw him and got suspicious.

"The teachers knew the younger brother well and when the elder brother sat for the exam on his behalf, they immediately identified him. The college professors informed us and a case of cheating and forgery was registered against the accused," said a police officer.

The accused told the police that the younger brother was weak in a particular subject and was fearing he would fail. He thus asked his elder brother to appear for the exam on his behalf. "We have arrested both of them on Monday and have booked them for forgery," said Sanjay Baswat, Senior police inspector of Nagpada police station.

THE REASON

The accused told the police that the younger brother was weak in a particular subject and was fearing he would fail. He thus asked his elder brother to appear for the exam on his behalf.
