Brazilian held at Mumbai airport with cocaine worth? Rs 2.5 crore

The accused has been identified as Ferreia Nascimen who came to Mumbai from Addis Ababa and was planning to head to New Delhi on flight AI 677.

Central Industrial Police Force (CISF) has nabbed a foreigner who is said to be a Brazilian national carrying cocaine worth Rs 2 to 2.5 crore at Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport. The accused has been identified as Ferreia Nascimen who came to Mumbai from Addis Ababa and was planning to head to New Delhi on flight AI 677.

According to the security officials, the accused was apprehended on Sunday morning at terminal 2 of the airport when he was about to board the above mentioned flight which was scheduled to depart at noon.

"It is an excellent detection so far to get a hold of smuggling of drugs and other narcotic substances in such a manner. As a part of routine security check up at all the terminals, the accused was asked to pass through the Pre-Embarkation Security Check ( PESC) at the security hold area of terminal- where we found out something mysterious in his baggage. To be double sure, we arranged a proper screening of is bag in which we found some talcum powder boxes inside which the cocaine was concealed in the form of capsules." said an officer.

The accused was later taken by the concerned officers for detailed investigation where total cocaine of about 457 grams was found and all were stuffed in capsules and concealed in the powder boxes to avoid arrest and manipulate security checks.

Nascimen was later arrested the drugs was seized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) who is conducting further examination and is investigating the case for further legal actions against him.
