After graduation what? Most students have no answer. This is a rat race, everyone knows that. And hence I must grab that job before anyone else does it, is the general mentality! However, not everyone knows what her/his rightful calling is.

Anxiety rules. BPO firms know this. Hence, in order to alleviate the fear of tomorrow, some of these companies are planning to visit 11 of Mumbai's prominent colleges and conduct interviews in the months of December and January. And there is the possibility of around 1,000 to 1,500 students landing jobs.
A consortium of leading Information Technology (IT) companies and (around 11) BPO companies now plan to guide college students on various specialised jobs, and their future.

They plan to clear doubts and misconceptions about BPO companies, and also showcase the bright future BPO companies promise. There is a notion that a BPO job is a call centre job. Companies are determined to clear this misconception. These companies have various specialised areas where they require the service of experts.
Company officials and heads of departments of education and development will hold seminars and guiding sessions to convince students that BPO companies can be good for them.

BPO companies require around 15% engineering graduates, 12-15% commerce graduates and around 8% doctors. Not many are aware of such facts. And hence most posts of engineers and doctors in such remain vacant. The consortium is determined to highlight this during their visit to colleges.
Though this proposal has been sent to different colleges, they have been keeping it under wraps. College authorities are, of course, pleased, and may soon put up the proposal on notice boards.

According available (NASCOM) data, BPO companies would provide employment to around 20 lakh people by 2020. The biggest recruitment drive is expected in 2015.
A highly placed source said: “There are many openings in BPOs, but there aren't many takers. Though numerous ads seeking right candidates have appeared in the media, the response hasn't been encouraging. Hence the decision to directly approach students.

Remuneration in BPO cos

College student: Rs10,000 to Rs15, 000 per month.
Commerce graduate: Rs15,000 to Rs20,000 per month.

Commerce graduate with 1 year experience: Rs18,000 to Rs25,000.
(Salary amounts are tentative in nature; people can get more as per a company's need).
