A case has been filed with the Vishnu Nagar police station under section 376 (punishment for rape), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
A 27-year-old woman, who works as a software developer, was in relationship with a man aged 30 from 2011. She was allegedly abused and beaten up by her boyfriend. The woman, who was frustrated with the status of her relationship, went to her accused boyfriend's house and put forth a proposal to his family members. After that the woman was abused and beaten up more. Finally, she went to a police station to lodge a complaint.

On Friday morning, the woman called up the accused, who did not respond. She headed to the accused's house at Karve and told his family members about their relationship, their arguments, his promise to marry her and now his ignorance of the same. The accused abused and beat up the woman after this.
An official from Vishnu Nagar police station said, "The accused was identified as Manish Anand Pangal, aged 30. The couple first met at a private college in Dombivali. They exchanged numbers and started meeting often. Later, they got a job in the same firm in Mahape area. The victim said the accused raped her on several occassions with false promise of marriage. A case has been registered and a probe is on."
