The Shrinagar police are on a lookout for two people, one of whom is accused of cheating a teen over the promise of marriage.

The 18-year-old victim has said in her complaint that she was in a relationship with accused, Akaash Maruti Sonawane, 21, and he had promised to marry her. But over the last few months, he did not respond to her questions on marriage. When she reached the Sonawane's house, she realised that the accused had fled and his friend, a Ambadas, had helped him.

She alleged that the friend beat her up and threatened her to not disclose any information about him to anyone. She then registered a complaint against the duo. A case has been registered under sections 420 and 323 of 34 of the Indian Penal Code. An official from Shrinagar police station said, “We have registered the case and the duo are absconding. Both work on temporary basis.

When the main accused fled, the second beat up the victim and even threatened her. The main accused and victim had an intimate relationship and the victim was lured over marriage. But later she was fooled. Further probe is on.”
