A 12-year-old boy, who falsely claimed that he was abducted, was held by the Railway Protection Force on Saturday from the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla. The class 6 student was later handed over to his parents.

Bored with his school, the boy, Abhijeet (name changed), decide to bunk class.
Throwing his school bag in Shivaji Lake, Bhandup, he boarded the Thane local train. From Thane, he boarded the mail train to LTT. There, RPF head constable BV Jagdale spotted him in his school uniform around 11am and took him to the RPF office.

According to Alok Bohra, senior divisional security commissioner, RPF, Central Railway, during questioning Abhijeet claimed that he hails from Chiplun in Ratnagiri and was abducted by two unidentified men on his way to Ahilyadevi Vidyalaya, his school. The boy claimed that the men had offered him some chocolate and he fell unconscious after consuming it. On regaining consciousness, he found himself in a car with his alleged kidnappers. He claimed he was later dropped at the LTT.

RPF inspector SS Barve contacted Chiplun and Ratnagiri police who informed that there was no such school in their cities. On further questioning the boy revealed that he was studying in Ahilyadevi Vidyalaya at Bhandup. His address was then sourced from Bhandup police and the parents were contacted.

“We are really grateful to the RPF personnel for their help in ensuring our son returned home safe and sound,” said the boy’s father.
