A high court lawyer was arrested for allegedly assaulting his wife in Lokhandwala on Sunday evening. The accused, Sachin Matre, 33, a Borivli resident, suspected his wife Rashika, 29, of having an affair.
The Oshiwara police said Rashika, a creative officer in a private firm, had gone to her friend Girish’s house in Lokhandwala’s Green Villa building around 4.30pm after work. Sachin had been following her and Girish and reached the building. The police said the duo was having dinner in the house when Sachin, who was waiting outside the door, barged in.
Sub inspector Ravikant Sawant said, “He started yelling at Rashika, and then went into the kitchen, took a knife and threatened the two. He said he would kill them both.”
When his wife tried to make him understand, he took a wooden showpiece and allegedly started beating her and then fled.
The duo approached the Oshiwara police who arrested Sachin on Sunday night.
“The woman has fractured her left hand, shoulder and left leg. She has also sustained minor injuries on her head and is in a private hospital in Borivli (West),” Sawant said.
“The Matres married four years back. According to the victim, Sachin has been suspicious of her for a long time and had confrontations with her all the time. We don’t know if Girish is her lover or not.”
