Bombay High Court questions govt on Radhe Maa

The Bombay High Court has sought to know from the state government whether an offence of indecency and obscenity is made out against self-styled godwoman Radhe Maa.

A division bench of justice VM Kanade and justice Dr Shalini Phansalkar Joshi made this observation after it was argued that the sermons given by Radhe Maa are always inside a room and hence it cannot amount to indecent or obscene behaviour in public under the Bombay Police Act.

The court also gave one weeks time to the state government to file its reply to a public interest litigation filed by advocate Falguni Brahmbhatt seeking an FIR against Radhe Maa on charges of obscenity, cheating and hurting religious sentiments.
