The Bombay High Court refused to grant anticipatory bail in a cheating case to Kannada actor and convict Maria Susairaj on Thursday. A case was registered with Thane police against her and others.

Justice Ajey Gadkari, while posting the hearing for June 15, said it would grant her temporary relief from arrest only if she deposits Rs 1 crore in the court registry. Susairaj was earlier accused of destroying evidence along with her former boyfriend Emile Jeorme, who had murdered media executive Neeraj Grover and disposed off his body parts in a forest in 2008. In 2011, Susairaj was convicted and sentenced to three years imprisonment.

  • In 2011, she was convicted by a Sessions court for destroying evidence in the Neeraj Grover murder case.
