The Bombay High Court on Wednesday posted the petition filed by Phantom Films, one of the producers of movie Udta Punjab, for further hearing on Thursday. The court has allowed the company to amend its petition, so that they can challenge the Censor Board order suggesting 13 cuts in the film.

In the morning, when the company mentioned the matter for urgent hearing, a division bench of justices S C Dharmadhikari and Dr Shalini Phansalkar Joshi posted it for after lunch.

The company had earlier prayed that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), which passed its order on June 6, had not yet given them any order yet. In the intervening period, however, the board served its order to the company.

Following which, company counsel Ravi Kadam argued before the court that it would like to amend the plea and challenge the board. Accordingly, the court allowed them to do so and posted the matter for further hearing on June 9.

The CBFC is said to have demanded an alteration of the narrative. The makers were apparently even asked to drop 'Punjab' from the title, and set the film in a fictitious setting.
