Navratri has begun with much fanfare in the city and Mumbaikar are making the most the festive season by participating in various garba and dandiya nights. While there are certain traditional evergreen numbers that are sung by the singers and are liked by all, Bollywood and Marathi songs are also trending this year at such gatherings.

Ronak Shah, who attends Falguni Pathak's dandiya event says, "This year the songs are really fun to dance on, I enjoy dancing on Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai (Sultan)." While Sadhana Solanki, who attends the event at Kora Kendra, Borivali said, "I prefer dancing over traditional dandiya and Garba songs, it is a charm that nothing else has."

While Karan Yajnik, a Dandiya fan says, "Bollywood songs make you groove a lot. Galla Gudiyan (Dil Dhadakne Do) is a number my group and I love grooving on." However, he adds that he doesn't follow typical garba steps when Bollywood songs are played.

Singers Preeti and Pinki who perform in Borivali said, "Sultan songs are a total hit! 440 vault ka jhatka has been requested quite often."

Singer Naitik Nagda is a sensation during Navratri and will be performing in Andheri this year, says that traditional garba songs bring out the true essence of Navratri. However, Marathi songs are also enjoyed by the audiences. Nagda adds, "Mauli mauli of Lai Bhaari and Jhingaat are two songs which people are grooving upon. We have got requests of Jhingaat being the closing song everyday and people enjoy it a lot."
