Bollywood choreographer Geeta Kapoor rams car into man

Popular Bollywood choreographer Geeta Kapoor was arrested by the Versova police and later released on bail after the white Honda Accord she was driving rammed into a pedestrian and left him injured.

According to the police, the incident happened on J P Road in Versova outside Mohan medical store around 5am on Thursday. The victim, Nisar Mohammed, 37, had stepped outside the store after purchasing some medicines when the car hit him.

R Pawar, senior inspector of Versova police, said, "Kapoor was driving back to her home in Lokhandwala after dropping off a friend in Yari Road. She told us that she was trying to avoid hitting a rash biker when she lost control of the car, crossed over the divider and hit Mohammed."

Following the incident, the choreographer called for an ambulance and got Mohammed admitted to the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Andheri. The victim has suffered fracture in his right leg and his condition is out of danger, said the police. Mohammed lives in seven bungalows and works as a repairman and driver.

The police said Kapoor was not driving under the influence of alcohol. She was arrested under section 279 (rash driving) and 338 (causing grievous hurt) of the Indian Penal code and was immediately granted bail.
