As the BMC elections are underway, several politicians, actors and celebrities turned out early to cast their vote for the next civic administration. Many of these individuals even took to social media, encouraging Mumbaikars to vote, so that they could ensure that they would see the change they wanted.
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar was among those who voted early as polling began at a brisk pace this morning.
Pawar voted at a polling booth in Ward 214, which comprises the city's D Ward (mainly the Nana Chowk area). Revathi, daughter of Pawar's daughter Supriya Sule, accompanied her grandfather to the voting booth.
Interestingly, the former Maharashtra Chief Minister cast his ballot in a constituency where no NCP candidate was contesting. The candidates from this particular ward are Arvind Bane from the Shiv Sena, Dhanraj Naik from the MNS, Kaushik Shah from the Congress, Sarita Patil from the BJP, and five independent candidates.
