With the restoration work of the Cooperage Bandstand garden at Churchgate reaching its final stage, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to inaugurate the 150-year-old heritage site in the coming few days.

The BMC has spent around Rs 50 lakh for the restoration of Cooperage Bandstand which is famous for the live band performances which were held during the early 19th century.

A civic official said, "We are in the final stages of restoration and we are going to inaugurate it soon. We are also planning to have live band performances organised at the heritage site like the way they were organised in the earlier days."

The restoration, which started on January 2017, involved the revival of the wooden canopy and replacing the tiled roof of the Bandstand with metal sheets.

Extensive research was conducted for the conservation of the heritage site before restoration work started.
