The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is likely to start hearing objections and suggestions for the proposed 23,900 hawking pitches across the city. The Removal of Encroachments (RE) Department of BMC has even decided to visit the sites if residents of the area oppose the proposed hawking pitches.

Nidhi Choudhary, deputy municipal commissioner (Special), said that they will look into every objection and suggestion seriously and if required, they would visit the area to verify the same. Civic officials have already visited some areas, including those in Hiranandani Powai, after residents from the areas opposed the proposed hawking pitches.

Meanwhile, the BMC's RE department has also prepared a fresh list of 60,000 pitches which will be put up on the civic body's website for objections and suggestions. According to a civic official, K East ward (Andheri and Vile Parle) will get the maximum number of hawking pitches. "The K East ward will get around 8,529 pitches which is followed by F South with 5,588 pitches," said the official. He added that P North will get around 4,824 pitches. Colaba will also get a good number of pitches.
