In order to make the proposed cycle track along Tansa pipeline a world-standard tourist destination, the BMC has sought suggestions from residents.

While the civic body has planned to make a part of the cycle track ready by Diwali, BMC wants Mumbaikars to take an interest in the project during its planning stage itself.

Sanjay Mukherjee, Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects), BMC said that suggestions can be sent to amc.project@mcgm.gov.in, and added, "The project will bring down pollution and ease pressure on existing roads."

Mukherjee held a meeting with civic officials on Monday to discuss the project. It was decided that a small segment of around 1.15 km from Mulund Boundary to Silver Bell Housing Society, and NITIE Gate (Powai) to Vijay Nagar bridge near Jogeshwari Vikhroli Link Road would be turned into a track for the public.

"People will be able to hire and leave cycles at entry and exit points within the track," said a senior official attached to the project.

The project will be developed in three stages and the track will be ready by November 30, 2019.

3-WAY PLAN

  • The cycle track will connect to roads, railway stations and the Metro
