BMC seeks consultant for Cuffe Parade garden report

The garden is believed to be developed on the lines of New York's Central Park.

The BMC has floated a tender to appoint a consultant for developing project details report (DPR) of a garden that has been planned in around 300-acres of land to be reclaimed near Cuffe Parade. The garden is believed to be developed on the lines of New York's Central Park.

A senior official from the BMC's garden department confirmed that the tender has been floated to appoint a consultant. The BMC has proposed a 300-acre park to be built through reclamation in Cuffe Parade in the Development Plan (DP) 2034. According to an official, the park will include a garden, playground and play area for children. The garden has been proposed off GD Somani Marg in Cuffe Parade.

According to a civic official, the consultant will prepare a detailed report in the next six months after appointment on the garden's development.

In December 2017, the BMC's Standing Committee had already sanctioned Rs 147.5 lakh for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR ) and National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (NEERI) to conduct a six-month-long impact assessment study on the project.
