BMC says ‘work of few years’, experts disagree

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which took the high ranking as a feather in its cap, claimed that it was a result of the work it has been doing for the “last few years”. “Basically, this is a result of the work we have been doing for the last few years. Of the four broad parameters, we were first in infrastructure and sixth in social,” said Vijay Singhal, additional municipal commissioner of the BMC. 

The ranking, however, was termed as “exaggerated, with no meaning” by citizens and experts. “If after so many potholes and deaths, this is good infrastructure, then I totally disagree,” said Rajkumar Sharma, coordinator of AGNI.
