BMC Polls Results: Counting stopped in ward 150, Congress candidate accused of buying votes

While results have been declared in some wards in Mumbai in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation election, in Chembur ward 150-P Lokhande Marg, vote counting has been stalled for almost two hours now. 

The contestants here allege that Congress candidate Sangita Handore cheated and also bought votes by distributing money in the ward. 

In the first round, Handore got 60% votes, while three other candidates got zero votes. There are a total of 18 candidates in ward 150 and 17 are protesting at the vote counting centre in the municipal school in Collector Colony. All 17 candidates have written to the Returning Officer here to stop counting and are demanding a re-election. 

Heavy police security has been deployed. Neither Handore nor any Congress workers are present at the counting centre. 

The protesting candidates also allege that a senior police officer of Tilak Nagar, Chembur, joined hands with Handore in corruption. 

Among the protesting candidates in ward 150 are Balasaheb Bansode of Samajwadi Party, Vinod Zagade of MNS, Krishna Mane of RPI(A), Aruna Kakad of Shiv Sena, Jitu Shinde of NCP.
