The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation on Monday issued a warning that heavy and continuous rainfall was expected during the next 48 hours across the city.

Meanwhile, on Monday, between 8.30 am to 8.30 pm, Colaba observatory recorded 124.6 mm rainfall, while Santacruz observatory recorded 33.2 mm rainfall. Water logging was witnessed at Khar Subway and at Reynold's Colony at Mumbai Port Trust. However, the excessive water was flushed out with the help of dewatering pumps.

According to BMC Disaster Control, only two complaints of water longing were made. Both, the Khar Subway in H-East and Reynold Colony in BPT in F-North ward saw water logging in the morning. "The drainage outlet was clogged with plastic which had to be removed first. Later, dewatering pumps helped flush out excess water," said an official from Disaster Control department.

Heavy rains also affected the traffic movement at several parts of the city including Western Express Highway and Eastern Express Highway towards Thane. However, the Mumbai Traffic Police claimed that the traffic movement in the city was smooth.
