The civic administration has made arrangements for chair palanquins so that disabled persons can be taken to the polling booth where the polling stations are on the first and second floor

Mumbai is witnessing its third election season in three years. After parliamentary elections and the Assembly election in 2014, on 21 February next week, the city's 91,80491 voters will decide the fate of 2275 candidates and will empower 227 elected representatives to plan and execute decisions for the city for the next five years
With the budget of Rs 95 crore for the civic elections, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will spend Rs 103.48 on each of the voters by way of providing facilities, manpower, machinery, vehicles and all the related arrangements.
"With 42,797 staff involved, the election process will be held at 7304 polling stations in 1582 areas across Mumbai and its suburbs where 5,030,361 male voters, 4,14,974 female voters and 382 transgender voters will cast their vote. Each polling station will have 4X3 feet LED display which will display affidavits and details of all candidates so that voters can know who they are voting for, " said Sanjay Deshmukh, additional Municipal Commissioner who is in-charge of the election process in the BMC.

"There are 1065 polling stations which are on first floor and 54 polling stations which are on second floor. Senior citizens who cannot climb stairs will also be assisted with the help of these palanquins", said Sanjay Deshmukh.
Mumbai has 688 sensitive polling stations and 17 hyper sensitive polling stations. "Mumbai Police has decided to deploy 35,000 police for the election and counting day. Apart from police personnel, each of the hyper sensitive polling booths will be equipped with Web Cast Cameras over and above CCTV cameras. The Election Commission has deployed 13 static teams and 98 flying squads to ensure there is no violation of code of conduct by any candidate.
