Even though Bhartiya Janata Party claimed that there are no differences between BJP and Shiv Sena in Maharashtra, the bitterness between both the parties still seems to be lingering as the Sena on Tuesday opposed government's land acquisition law in its present form.

Opposing the land acquisition law, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav on Thackeray in a statement said, "There is no question of Shiv Sena supporting any law that goes against the interest of farmers."

Thackeray told BJP that farmers brought it to power by placing much trust in it. "Do not commit the sin of squeezing the throat of the farmers," he said, according to the statement circulated by Sanjay Raut, leader of the Sena in the Rajya Sabha.

Interestingly, the statement by Sena chief has come even after the first coordination panel meeting between the two major saffron partners, which has been formed in the wake of periodic outbursts against the government by the Sena and counter-attack by a few BJP leaders.

However, Maharashtra BJP President, Raosaheb Danve claimed, "There are no differences between Sena-BJP and he will meet Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on March 4." Apart from Danve, the coordination panel meeting was attended by BJP's Chandrakant Patil and Shiv Sena's Subhash Desai, Anil Desai and Diwakar Raote.

According to sources in Sena, party leaders have raised their concern about many decisions being directly taken, which they get to know about from the media." Since the day Sena MLA’s were inducted into the government, the bitterness was openly seen as the BJP retained key departments, while the Sena was not given any 'crucial' portfolios like Home, Revenue and Water Resources.

Recently, the war of words between the alliance partners got worse when Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray’s son and Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray were recently engaged in a Twitter war with MLA and Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar over the issue of Marine lines street lamps. Whereas, furious over Uddhav's comment against Narendra Modi over BJP’s debacle in Delhi, Shelar took a dig at Sena and went a step ahead saying the party should 'quit the government' before targeting Modi.

Shiv Sena is the second largest constituent of the NDA after BJP with 18 MPs in the Lok Sabha and three in Rajya Sabha.
