The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has decided to go all out to change their anti-Muslim image ahead of state assembly polls. In order to please Muslim voters of the state, the BJP has decided a long list of reformation schemes for the community.

Najma Heptulla, union minister for minority affairs addressed the Muslims in Mumbai's Shanmukhanand Hall on Thursday and conveyed the new schemes to the party's minority cell.

Minority cell members will initiate dialogues with voters in Muslim pockets which makes up almost 11 per cent of Maharashtra's population. The Muslim community, who have traditionally voted for the Congress and other parties, could swing several seats in favour of the BJP.

Heptulla said the Sacchar committee report itself says that the state of Muslims in India is even more backward than the Dalits of the country.

"Yes, the Congress is known for secularism, but how did the Muslims benefit from the party? Then, why should the community believe in such pseudo-secularism. Narendra Modi's government has already started different projects for the betterment of the community," said Heptulla.

Former Army chief General (retd) VK Singh, minister of state for external affairs said, "The meet is an example to show that each of us are equal. I had been in the force for 42 years and soldiers come from all communities and religions but they fight for India. If you want development we need to walk hand-in-hand and ensure that BJP wins."

Haji Haider Azam, vice president of BJP's Mumbai unit said, "Muslim areas need basic facilities and development, Muslim women need employment and BJP government has already started working towards these projects."
Ashish Shelar, president of BJP's Mumbai unit said, "Modi government will ensure the progress of the minority student by providing funds their studies."

Shahnawaz Hussain, national spokesperson of the party said that 65 years after independence all that the community has got is promises but no rewards. "We are welcoming you with open heart, accept us wholeheartedly."
