The Shiv Sena expressed its displeasure over the budget presented by BJP on Wednesday, claiming that it had been given step-motherly treatment in terms of allocation of funds.

According to the Sena, most of the budget funds had been allocated to BJP ministers. "We are equal partners in the state government. However, the finance minister was more lenient towards his own party ministers' department'. We have been given between Rs 10 crore to Rs 40 crore, while the BJP ministers' departments were allocated Rs 500 to Rs 6,000 crore. How we will work with such insufficient funds?" asked a Sena minister requesting anonymity.

Sunil Shinde, a Sena leader, said that this budget has not addressed many of the city's problems. "The BDDT chawl, redevelopment of old buildings and infrastructure issues have not been addressed. We raised this issue with the chief minister and expect some relief," Shinde said.

NCP leader Jayant Patil said that the BJP had started various schemes in its leaders' names, but forgot the late Balasaheb Thackeray. "Thackeray ji contributed a lot to state politics. If the Sena is sharing the power, then some scheme and project should have been started in his name as a tribute," said Patil.
