Billabong International hosts GK quiz competition for ISCE students

The quiz was conducted in two levels – juniors and seniors and students from classes VIII to X were in the juniors team. Those from classes XI to XII were part of the seniors competition.

Billabong International School on Monday hosted an interschool General Knowledge quiz competition under the aegis of the Association of ICSE Schools in Maharashtra.

More than 60 schools affiliated with the ICSE board took part in the zonal round, which consisted of audio, visual and oral rounds. Schools not only from Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, but also from Nagpur, Nashik, Pune, Valsad and Lonavla were part of the competition.

The quiz was conducted in two levels – juniors and seniors and students from classes VIII to X were in the juniors team. Those from classes XI to XII were part of the seniors competition. The quiz competition was conducted by well known anchor and quiz master Dyu D'cunha. The winners of the quiz will qualify for the national-level competition which will be held in Kerala in September.

This being the 10th anniversary of Billabong International, they included the quiz in their annual celebrations. "We want the students to receive a platform to hone their skills and an interschool competition is the perfect platform. We have planned events every month to commemorate our decennial celebrations and this quiz competition is also a part of that," said Ranjini Krishnaswamy, director-principal of Billabong International School.

Amongst the juniors group, the winners are Aaditya Srivastav and Krishna Sharma from Ryan International School, Malad, and second position went to Raghav Vishwanath and Sumanyu Ghoshal from Lokhandwala Foundation school.

Amongst the seniors, Aaditya Iyer and Abhigyaan Ray from Lilavatibai Podar High School, Santacruz, won, followed by Malav Shah and Ayush Singh from Jasuben ML School, Khar, in the second position. These winners were felicitated by the trustee of the host school, Sudhir Goenka.

"Conducting such quiz events are a boon, it helps us improve our knowledge and gives a nice experience. We would like to participate in such events in the future as well," said Akshat Shah from Activity High School, Peddar Road.

Students from Ryan International School, Nerul, also found the quiz competition to be informative. Students from the seniors' group felt that it was a good exposure for those interested in appearing for the competitive exams.
