Just a day before the last date of the civic polls nominations, BJP extended their shoulder to Shiv Sena's disgruntled corporators Nana Ambole and Dinesh Panchal along with ex-corporator Prabhakar Shinde, who joined the party. Shiv sainiks who staunchly believed in honouring the party's decision, began defying it openly and drifted from the party expressing their anger. In fact, sainiks shut down the Shiv Sena shakha offices of ward 178 and 200 on Thursday.

The Sena's sitting corporator from Parel Nana Ambole and his wife Tejaswini, Dinesh (Bablu) Panchal and his wife Anita along with all the sainiks from his shakha joined the BJP in presence of Mumbai BJP chief Ashish Shelar and Maharashtra BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari.

Shiv Sena shakha 178 in Wadala was locked by sainiks under protest as the ticket was given to Amey Ghole of Yuva Sena ignoring the expectations of local leaders who have poured in their sweat and blood for the party. While Nana Ambole already had developed differences with the party hierarchy in the past, Panchal said that MP Rahul Shewale did not consider the party worker who has worked for so many years but thought of his family instead.

Shewale's wife Kamini who was a croporator from 2007-2012 has been chosen as the party candidate in Chembur.

Prabhakar Shinde, a senior Shiv Sena leader and who has also been Leader of the House in BMC joined the BJP. Last month, two senior Shiv Sena leaders joined BJP. Ex-MLA Suresh Gambhir and corporator and union leader Sunil Ganacharya quit Shiv Sena for BJP.

Meanwhile, sources claimed that Kirit Somaiya's son Neil Somaiya, Vidya Thakur's son Deepak Thakur, Raj Purohit's son Akash Purohit have been given tickets. In fact, Akash even filed online nomination on Thursday. However, Sardar Tara Singh is reportedly unhappy as there is no clarity over the candidature of his son Rajneet Singh.
