Bhiwandi cops seek DNA test to confirm kid's father

The Bhiwandi police are going to conduct a DNA test of two men from Shantinagar to ascertain the father of a seven-month-old baby. Both men are said to have been involved with the baby's mother at some point and later abandoned her when she got pregnant. The woman's father, hence, approached the cops to solve this mystery and marry the girl off to the rightful father of the child.

On July 26, Moin Qureshi (name changed), 48 from Shantinagar, Bhiwandi approached the cops to get his daughter justice. His daughter was 17-years-old when she had a love affair with Kamaal Sheikh (name changed), 25 in 2017.

Around January 2017, they consummated their relationship. When Sheikh's friend Riyaz (name changed), 25 got to know about it, he blackmailed the girl to get physical with him else he would tell the neighbours and the girl's parents about her proximity with her fiance. The girl one day gave in to his demands, and from then he used to seek sexual favours from her often.

The girl got pregnant and in January 2018 gave birth to a baby boy at Bhiwandi's Indira Gandhi memorial hospital. "Qureshi asked both the men to ascertain whose child is it and then marry his daughter. Both refused and threatened to kill him," says a police official from Shantinagar police station.

A scared Qureshi then approached the cops on Wednesday who charged both men under section 376 (rape) of the Indian penal code.
