Bhiwandi building collapse: Man saves 7-yr-old from claws of death

A 20 year old electrician residing in the ill fated building was first to rush out of the collapsing structure when it tilted to rest on the neighbhouring building. The youth had woken up early morning to store the water into containers at around 8.30 am when he managed to rescue the seven year old boy and wife of the developer who were stuck in the lobby of the building.

Mohammed Ayaz, 20, resided on the third floor flat of the illegal structure which collapsed on Friday morning. Rehan Khan,7 was pulled out safely by the youth and was handed over to the locals who had gathered after hearing a loud thud on the ground floor when the structure tilted backwards.

"We wake up early in the morning to fill water into the containers. My cousins were too inside the flat when i woke them up and asked to vacate the flat. When i reached on the first floor i saw Rehan crying and soon rushed towards the door of the flat and pulled him out to safety.", said Ayaz.

"Later i heard the cries of help from Salama, wife of the developer when i rushed upstairs and dragged her out of the building site which by then had collapsed from one side completely.", said Ayaz.
