The University of Mumbai continued with its exams across affiliated colleges and centres despite tensions in the city. MCom, MA, BA, BSc and LLB exams were scheduled in two slots — 11 am to 1 pm and 3 pm to 6 pm across colleges. On Wednesday morning, the varsity announced that keeping in mind the issues with respect to public transport, students would be given grace time of an hour to reach their exam halls. Students were also allowed to write their exams from the nearest exam halls.

MU also announced that students who still could not reach their centres can appear for the same at a later date, the schedule for which would be released shortly. “We have asked for a detailed report on how many students could not make it for the exams and would come up with a revised schedule for such students in the next two days,” said the varsity spokesperson.

Principals said that while a considerable number of students turned up in the first half, there were very few who came in the afternoon. “We had an MCom paper in the college and hardly 25 students turned up. We started the exam on time and also gave grace time for those who reached late,” said Ashok Wadia, Principal, Jai Hind College, Churchgate.
