Bhandup couple on bike killed in WEH mishap

A husband and wife lost their life after an unknown vehicle hit them on the Western Express Highway in Malad (East). The incident happened around 8:30 am on Sunday when the duo was travelling from Andheri to Borivli. On reaching the stretch on the highway next to Pushpa Park, an unknown vehicle allegedly hit the bike.

A husband and wife lost their life after an unknown vehicle hit them on the Western Express Highway in Malad (East). The incident happened around 8:30 am on Sunday when the duo was travelling from Andheri to Borivli. On reaching the stretch on the highway next to Pushpa Park, an unknown vehicle allegedly hit the bike.

The deceased have been identified as Ganesh Pedkar, 32, and his wife Shardha, 30. The Dindoshi police has registered a case.A police officer from Dindoshi said, "We are yet to ascertain which vehicle hit the bike. The passersby spotted the duo lying on the road and rushed them to Shatabdi hospital, following which the police was informed."The deceased lived in Bhandup, cops said. "We have handed over the bodies to their relatives. We will be inquiring with the locals to find out how the accident occurred. We will also check if the incident was captured on CCTVs located near the spot."

A case of rash driving and causing death due to negligence has been registered by the Dindoshi police against the unknown motorist.
