In the December 26 issue, dna downtown had reported about the pathetic condition of Matunga's Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Road. Around three and a half months ago, the road lay witness to a massive water pipe burst, one that needed major repair.

Considering the water pipes are underground, a huge portion of the road had to be dug up extensively post the pipe burst. Debris, stones, mud and other concrete stuff lay in huge heaps in the centre of the road, thus making the spot an eyesore. Since the road has only three lanes, the situation also slowed down the overall traffic.

Despite the completion of the repair work, this road was not restored, as the BMC officers were busy indulging in blame game. F/North ward's hydraulic department, maintenance department and the roads department continued blaming each other for a period of three months. This turned into a bane for the citizens living in this area.

Post dna's report, the ward cleared up the mud, debris and heaped up concrete from the road. This stretch of road is now cleaner, neater and doesn't slow down the traffic. Matunga-based activist Nikhil Desai said, "The ward has cleaned up the area and the road now looks neater. Finally, they've acted after a delay of several months."
