In order to connect strangers with a common cause, two citizens have started a platform, which will help book lovers come together for an interactive session once a month.

'BeHiver', an initiative was started by Kalpak Chavan, 26, and Aniruddha Chatterjee, 34, three months ago. These two strangers connected with each other because of their love for books, they wanted to start a platform where more strangers can connect with each other through a common cause.

Speaking about BeHiver, Kalpak Chavan, resident of Borivli, said, "The idea is to take out some time from the daily routine and spend quality time with strangers and friends by discussing a common topic. According to us, meeting new people is therapeutic. It also helps to build a network. We started this with the aim to bring people together and indulge in meaningful conversations."

Chatterjee and Chavan started conceptualising the platform since August 2016, and conducted the first interactive discussion in November. While the first discussion was about the commuters preferring private v/s public mode of transport, the second was about the demonetization issue.

"So far we have had five sessions where people narrated their original poems, stories as well as discussed movies they like. The topics depend on the current issues and affairs," said Chavan.

The platform aims at bringing people from diverse professional backgrounds together and is organized in different venues like theaters, co-working locations and book cafes.

Speaking about how the social media platform has helped them to connect with people, Chatterjee, said, "Social media is helping us to connect with more people since almost everybody has access to these platforms, and it has become a platform to inform people about the events organised every month. It helps communicate with them, and people can make suggstions, criticise, appreciate or put forth an idea." adding that "We keep the participation strength to around 20-25 people, and conduct meetings once a month because we want to focus on the quality of discussions rather than organising it every week."
