The Marine Drive police have recorded one more person’s statement on Saturday in connection with the Preity Zinta-Ness Wadia case. With this, the total number of people whose statements have been recorded has gone up to eight.

They recorded the statement of Sanjay Patel, BCCI secretary. “We cannot divulge the details of what Patel has said but we have recorded his statement,” confirmed Ravindra Shisve, deputy commissioner of police (zone-1). Sources said that Patel confirmed that Zinta had approached him on May 30 and complained about Ness's misbehaviour.

Meanwhile, police said, Zinta is expected to arrive in Mumbai around 5.30am on Sunday. She might come to the police station around noon to get her detailed statement recorded. The police have already started barricading the area to prevent media from causing disruptions. There is a good possibility that the police might go to the actor’s house to record her statement. Zinta in her statement also alleged that Wadia had abused her during the IPL teams auction in Bangalore.

“There is no clear communication from the actor on when she is coming and we are not going to force her for the same as she is the victim in the case. Out of the eight statements recorded so far, at least six have corroborated Zinta’s version that Wadia had publicly humiliated and manhandled her on May 30 at the Wankhede Stadium. The police are also in the process of scrutinizing the CCTV footages to get a clear picture on the incident.

Zinta had approached the police on June 13, to lodge a complaint following which she left for the US. Based on her complaint, the police have registered a case under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), section 506 (criminal intimidation) and 509 (word, gesture or act intended to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the IPC. No arrest has been made in the case so far.
