Banker molests 22-year-old in train, lands behind bars

The Thane Government Railway Police (GRP) arrested a 35-year-old banker for allegedly molesting a 22-year-old woman inside a train. The woman raised an alarm after which he was handed over to to the on-duty GRP officer standing at Thane Railway station.

According to the police, Ashok Rathod, a banker, was inside the general compartment when he allegedly touched the private parts of a woman who was traveling with her relatives. The woman immediately raised an alarm after which the commuters caught Rathod and handed him over to the GRP officer.

"The victim was standing in the passage of the train to get off at Thane station when the accused repeatedly touched the private parts of the woman and smiled at her," said a Thane GRP officer. "The woman shouted at the accused and other commuters came to her rescue and dragged the accused out of the train and handed him over to us," said the officer.

Uttam Sonawne, Senior Police Inspector, said, "A case under section 354 (molestation) of the IPC has been registered."
