An advocate, accused in an alleged banking scam case, recently filed an application before the Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) pleading the court to allow him to travel to Hong Kong for vacation.

The accused, in his application, said that he wants to explore nature of the world. The court, however, turned down the application stating that it is not the right time to explore nature as the trial is at its fag end.

Yunus Memon, in his application, said that in earlier instances he was allowed to travel to international countries and that he has always returned. Thus on similar lines, the accused wants to travel to Hong Kong for a vacation. The accused also claimed that it was his right and that he cannot be deprived of it unless there is a law made by the state prescribing the procedure for so depriving and the deprivation is effected strictly in accordance with such procedure.

"Trial is going on and accused wants to enjoy the nature of the world as his 'right'. It shows that the presence of accused abroad is not necessitated by any compulsory circumstances," read the court's order copy which rejected the application.

The accused was arrested in a bank scam along with seven more accused by the CBI for allegedly giving wrong information to bank officials in 2005. A similar case was registered against the accused in 2000 as well, wherein the accused was charged for allegedly giving incorrect title clearance of the plot which the accused had presented to the mortgage. However, charges were not proved against him and he was thus acquitted.
