The Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour reaches Mumbai on the March 21. Famous for its outstanding selection of short films based in the outdoors, ranging from mountain biking to trail running to skiing, the festival covers an array of award-winning, awe-inspiring short films.

This year's line-up includes Dan MacAskill's seven-minute short film The Ridge, which became a viral sensation on YouTube shortly after its release, and Vasu Sojitra: Out on a Limb, featuring the disabled solo backcountry skier of Indian origin. Speaking about the event, Divyesh Muni, Vice-President, The Himalayan Club, said, "The Himalayan Club has been hosting the Banff Film screenings in Mumbai for several years now. We are thrilled to have Columbia Sportswear on board; their support will help us reach out to more adventure enthusiasts."
His words resonate with that of Apoorva Prasad, Founder and Editor-in-Chief, The Outdoor Journal. He shared, "There is a growing awareness and enthusiasm for the outdoors by an urban audience that knows what it wants—a better way of living. A film festival like the Banff World Tour is absolutely the right dose needed to showcase how epic adventures around the world can be."

Earlier, Banff World Tour screenings were smaller events held only in Mumbai and occasionally at small venues in Delhi. However, India has seen a growing interest in mountain culture and outdoor sports and lifestyle in recent years. For 2015, The Himalayan Club and The Outdoor Journal joined hands and with the help of title sponsor Columbia Sportswear, they plan to take the screenings across the country. Khyati Bhinde, Vice-President, Chogori India Retail of Columbia Sportswear, said, "We are very happy to partner with The Himalayan Club and The Outdoor Journal and hope that we collectively offer good outdoor services to our customers."
The festival promises to bring with it some of the best outdoor and extreme sports short films from the world over. What you get is 1.5 hours of adrenaline-pumping cinema experience—we sure are excited.
