As news of the Shiv Sena chief being critical spread, celebrities, industrialists and netas made a beeline for his Bandra residence. But the security cordon forced them to get off their vehicles at Kalanagar junction and walk down to the Thackeray’s bungalow.

While depression loomed large on the faces of Shiv Sainiks camping outside Kalanagar in Bandra (East) since Wednesday night, celebrities and netas paid a visit to the Thackeray household on Thursday to check on the party chief Bal Thackeray’s health.

For most of the celebrities, the visit to Matoshree was a leveller with most of them being forced to abandon their vehicles at the entrance of the lane leading to the bungalow. Even prominent political leaders, including those from the Sena, had to get down from their vehicles and walk to Matoshree.

Agitated and anxious Sainiks forced even MLAs such as Nitin Sardesai and Bhai Jagtap to leave their vehicles far away and walk to Matoshree.

Personalities, who were mobbed by mediapersons and Sainiks present near the Kalanagar junction, assured that Thackeray was stable and some said that his condition was improving too.
Estranged nephew and MNS chief Raj Thackeray BJP leader Gopinath Munde and NCP chief Sharad Pawar and actor Nana Patekar visited Matoshree on Thursday morning after Thackeray’s health condition deteriorated.

Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Vinod Tawde and BJP president Nitin Gadkari too visited the ailing leader. After exiting Matoshree, Munde told waiting mediapersons that Thackeray’s condition was stable, while Joshi said the doctors would reveal his leader’s condition.

Later in the day a host of personalities visited the Thackeray’s residence including industrialists Venugopal Dhoot and Rahul Bajaj, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, deputy chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Vasant Davkhare, Sena leaders Anant Gite, Neelam Gorhe and Suryakant Mahadik and Congress leader Hussain Dalwai. Bhandarkar and Davkhare, too, assured reporters that Thackeray was stable.

While actor Salman Khan came with his father Salim Khan and actor brother Arbaaz Khan, actor Govinda and singer Kailash Kher also landed at Matoshree. Personalities from the Marathi filmdom, including Mahesh Manjrekar and Vinay Apte, also called upon the Thackeray household.

Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan and governor K Sankaranarayanan also came to Matoshree. Anil Kapoor and his family also came to enquire about Thackeray’s health.
