Admission to degree courses in all city colleges started from June 16. But students are still clueless on the fee structure and eligibility criteria for admission to innovative courses in B Com that were approved on Monday.

Almost 146 colleges in Maharashtra have got approval for different innovative courses that are being introduced from this academic year.

In Mumbai, six colleges have permission for innovative course in B Com—transport management, investment management, financial management, NCC and investment management and economics.

All courses recommended by the Mumbai University were waiting for government nod. The approval finally came on June 14, but the government resolution appeared on the website only on June 16. However, though the courses have been approved, students are unaware of the eligibility criteria and fee structure for B Com management courses.

Tukaram Shiware, chairman, Association of Non-Government College Principals, said: "Hinduja College has got approval for innovative courses like B Com in transport management and investment management.

But we have not got any notification about the eligibility criteria and fee structure. Students have been inquiring about this. The university will have to extend the admission dates to enable students to take admission."

The principal of Nirmala Memorial Foundation College of Commerce & Science, Kandivali, Dr TP Madhu Nair (dean, faculty of commerce, University of Mumbai), whose college got approval for B Com transport management and investment management, said: "The ordinance on eligibility and fee structure is likely to be presented to the governor for approval on Thursday. We have recommended fee equivalent to those in other self-finance courses like BMM, BMS, etc. For eligibility, we have recommended HSC pass with 45% for those who have cleared the exam in one attempt. No repeater will get admission to these courses. If no response comes from governor, we will consider it as accepted."
