It seems encroachment is taking satellite city in its grip. Though one side of Juinagar station has an autorickshaw stand, the drivers seem to not use it, which is causing traffic jams in the area. On the contrary, the other side of the station does not have an autorickshaw stand due to which commuters are facing problems.

Autorickshaw stand on the east of Juinagar station is not used by autorickshaw drivers because of which the way gets blocked. When people come outside, they find it hard to get an autorickshaw. The way toward Turbhe and Shiravne gets blocked by autorickshaws as these are two opposite routes.

“There should be a stand for autorickshaws at each location,” said a commuter.

There is a notice board at the entrance of the railway station displaying boards that only five autorickshaws can stand at the gate. But the drivers do not follow the rules and make a long queue of eight to ten near the entrance. They also take commuters who are not standing in a queue, leading to chaos.

When asked, an autorickshaw driver said, “All the other drivers stand here so I also stand in the same queue. We get customers fast here.” A commuter said, “As I am in a hurry to reach home I sit in the autorickshaw which is easily accessible.”

Kasam Mulani, the president of Navi Mumbai Rikshaw Maha Sang said, “I will see to it that all the autorickshaw drivers follow rules and ferry passengers from the stand alloted by Cidco for convenience of commuters.”

On the west side of the station, no autorickshaw stand is available, which inconveniences commuters.

Sameer Kanade, a commuter said, “Very few people form a queue and people coming after us sit in the autorickshaw first because of which nobody wants to follow the rules.”

Another commuter said, “If there will be a proper autorickshaw stand, all commuters will move into the autorickshaw according to their number.”

Mulani revealed, “We spoke to Cidco officials regarding an  autorickshaw stand in the west side of Juinagar and we are waiting for their response.”
