The cell members, headed by BMC chief Sitaram Kunte, met on Thursday. During the meeting, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority made a presentation on its plan to tackle any untoward incident.

During the meet, the members discussed areas where safety aspects need to be improved. “There has to be proper co-ordination amongst the agencies involved as it is key during any crisis situation. We stressed on the measures during the meeting,” a senior civic official said.

To ensure proper co-ordination, the cell has insisted on linking control room of the mono/metro rail operators with those of the civic body and the police. There were also suggestions to keep a back up of BEST buses in case of dislocation of services on the routes.
