Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar, India's most-wanted criminal, and his family's life has an uncanny resemblance to a Bollywood masala movie.

His transformation from a police constable's son to Mumbai underworld don, his sister Haseena Parker's ability to run the D-Company are well-documented and has inspired Bollywood time and again.

Now, as the arrest of Iqbal Ibrahim Kaskar, younger brother of Dawood his national headlines, the very moment he was arrested may inspire another set of movies and books.

According to the Thane Police, When Iqbal Kaskar was picked up from his home in south Mumbai late on Monday, he was watching the 'Kaun Banega Crorepati' show and eating biryani.

Thane Police Commissioner Parambir Singh, while addressing media, revealed this interesting piece of information on Tuesday.

Kaskar was picked up from his sister Haseena Parker's home late on Monday by a crack team of Thane Anti-Extortion Cell (AEC) and later placed under arrest.

The Thane court on Tuesday sent Kaskar and two others to a police custody of eight days.

"Iqbal Kaskar demanded four flats and Rs 30 lakh as ransom from a builder. The names of some other builders and politicians have also emerged during the investigation," Singh told mediapersons on Tuesday.

The police are now examining whether the dreaded Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) can be applied to Iqbal Kaskar and his brother Dawood, believed to be in Pakistan.

Singh said Iqbal Kaskar has been running the extortion racket for quite some time and on Monday night the AEC finally arrested him.

The police chief said he has threatened and made extortion calls to several builders in Thane, Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.

Iqbal Kaskar was deported to India from UAE in 2003.

In 2015, Kaskar was arrested in an extortion case in February and granted bail.

At that time, areal estate agent, Mohammed Salim Shaikh, had filed a complaint alleging that Kaskar and his men assaulted him and demanded Rs 3 lakh.
