Raising the issue, Opposition leader of the lower House, Radhakrishna Vikhe-Patil, said the government's role was not coming out clearly. "In case of breach of privilege by BJP MLA Sunil Deshmukh, the matter was instantly given to the privilege committee. But in case of Rane and Kadu, the government's role is not coming out clearly. The government was to probe why Kadu went there and what happened," he said.
NCP leader Jayant Patil said, "The government has not said anything on Vaibhav Naik being hit by the collector and deputy superintendent. Some action was to be taken against them."
While the Opposition cornered the government, BJP's Anil Gote said, "The Opposition was making a hue and cry, while they did nothing when MNS MLA was in the hospital for six months."
Soon, the government was cornered again when Shiv Sena's Gulabrao Patil said, "Around 2,500 government employees went on a strike. Action should be taken against them for doing so. While 500 policemen came to arrest Kadu, the state government was providing protection to the MLA who did not say Bharat Mata ki Jai."
The MLAs stated that the government officials not replying to them embarrassed them in their constituency. "A tehsildar burst crackers when MAT stayed his transfer by the CM, after a complaint by the elected representatives.
By slapping Atrocities Act on the MLA, you are raising the morale of bureaucrats, while that of the elected representatives is taking a hit," said Sena's Chandradeep Narke.
Speaker of the House, Bhausaheb Bagde said, "Bureaucrats not responding is not just a complaint of the elected representatives but that of citizens in general. The government must see if something that can be done."
Revenue minister Eknath Khadse said, "I was present and so was the media. News of 500 policemen was wrong. It is not good for the state that elected representatives and bureaucrats fight on this. We will see if a code of conduct can be made for the two. The CM will reply soon."
