American author Henry David Thoreau once said, "This world is but a canvas to our imagination." A melting pot of diverse art forms, Mumbai reflects this philosophy stupendously. As we turn our page to a new year, here are some exciting events to put on your calendar.

A popular art gallery in the western suburbs, Satguru has an exhibition coming up that explores the realm of a temple village. "A collection from high-calibre artists specialising in this subject will be put together in both contemporary as well as traditional styles," informs Anmol Babani, Director, Satguru's.

Taste has evolved with time, Babani tells us. Most home décor is now chic and customers love to indulge in luxury. They have extremely defined taste and preferences. Many tend to look out for an 'international' theme with an ethnic tweak.

As 2015 kick-starts, Satguru will go online. "Customers now look to fulfill their home décor needs online as this saves them the trouble of stepping out. We are also planning to take several products of ours online," he adds.

Come January and Thespo will have a field day, literally. The seven-day theatre festival, last held in December 2014 at Prithvi Theatre, Juhu, is known for exclusively harvesting young talent, under the age of 25 years. With free workshops that are a part of the festival, Thespo nurtures theatre lovers, especially the young ones.

While the seven-day festival aims on showcasing full-length plays, platform performances and workshops, in early 2015, theatre lovers can look forward to two days (January 6 and 7) spent in the company of Clerke and Joy's Falls 2 –11, the best play from Thespo 16.

Thespo is a platform to learn and experience every nuance of theatre, opines Manan Mehta, Festival Director. He says, "Our workshops are free of cost to make theatre accessible to everyone."

"I think Thespo offers a great platform to help the youth channelise their talent; it also provides them with easy access to theatre," says Malad resident and theatre lover Ashwini Naik. While Thespo has had hits like Butter & Mashed Banana and Confessions and Chakra over the years, its association with Prthvi Theatre has led made it even more popular. The festival is affiliated with some of the most popular faces like Nimrat Kaur, Ali Fazal, Huma Qureshi, Amrita Puri and more.
