A city-based artist is generating funds to help the family of the child rape victim in Jammu & Kashmir. Krupa Shah is working on a painting which raises a voice against the injustice and highlights concerns over the cases of child rape and murder emerging from different parts of the country. Through her work, Shah wants to give out the message that children must be kept away from personal agendas.

Shah began with her painting project on April 15 and aims to complete it within three days. The funds received through the painting will be given to the family members of the Kathua child rape victim or her lawyer to financially help them fight the case.

Shah, who works out of Walkeshwar, said, "It is a tough time for the family members. Through this artwork, I want to portray that religion should not become a factor in such issues. As parents, they have to fight their own battle to get justice for their child. This is a small help to fight their case. I am in talks with the J&K government about my initiative."

Shah has earlier been part of social causes where she taught girls from municipal schools of J&K to use painting as an art form to transform their lives.

Citizens from different parts of the city have been raising their voice and protesting on the streets with posters demanding justice.

An online petition which was initiated by a group of women (activists and lawyers) from Jammu & Kashmir appealing for justice in the case has received more than 1.6 lakh signatures in support.
