The documentary Mother India: Through the Eyes of an Orphan, which showcased the lives of 25 orphaned children, revealed that in 2014, over 31 million kids had been orphaned in India. These alarming statistics—given that most of these children are homeless—prompted the NGO Catalysts for Social Action (CSA) to bring about the rehabilitation of such children while ensuring a dignified way of life for them.

To raise the necessary funds for this cause, CSA has organised an art auction at Taj Lands End, Bandra, on November 2 to bring under one roof the exquisite works of some of the best artists in India. Connoisseurs will get to see art pieces designed by Ajay De, Arzan Khambatta, Bina Aziz, Brinda Miller, Gurcharan, Jaya Lamba and Shola Carletti, to name a few.
Sandip Soparrkar will also contribute to the cause by choreographing a dance segment, which will include top company executives, who along with their spouses, will raise money through pledges supported by family, friends and well-wishers.
"Dance is an excellent medium to raise awareness about social issues. People donate money to watch the show and also to purchase art, which will be put up for auction, post the show. It's not just the dance but art in entirety, which will raise the funds in this case," says Soparrkar, who is also CSA's cause ambassador.

While speaking about adoption (Sandip adopted a child earlier,) Soparrkar says, "We connect with a child not because we give birth to one. If birth was the only way to love someone unconditionally, there would have been no orphans in this world. Relationships are built and maintained on just one thing—love. In life, many a times, a non-blood relation holds more value and is closer to the heart—that's why we have best friends, a mooh bola bhai and behen, lovers or even pets. These are not blood relations but are so strong that they rule our lives. Same is the case with adoption. Many people fear adoption as they fear rejection later in life, but if one loves unconditionally without any expectation for the future, there will never be any problems in life."
